Description
Hickory wood is extremely tough, yet flexible, and is valued for production in a variety of items such as tool handles, bows, wheel spokes, carts, drumsticks and golf club shafts. Hickory has extensive use in the manufacturing of furniture and wood flooring due to its durability and character.
Grain and Color: Hickory is prized for its widely varying band of grain color. The term "flowing" well describes the grain character. Color ranges from pale tan to sapwood of almost white in tone. The wood undergoes a degree of color change increasing with time the contrast between the lighter and darker grains tones that create the variation in the species.
